The Anita Benedetti Memorial Award was created in 1996 in memory of Anita Benedetti who was one of our nation's foremost advocates of risk management education. Anita spent 18 years with RIMS and was appointed Deputy Executive Director in 1993. She was also president of the Spencer Foundation, which promotes the study of risk management and has awarded more than 175 scholarships since it was founded in 1979. During Ms. Benedetti's tenure, its assets grew to nearly $2,000,000. Anita was also a member of Gamma Iota Sigma's National Board of Trustees and was instrumental in establishing the blossoming relationship between RIMS and Gamma Iota Sigma. In 1994, she was the first recipient of ARIAs Presidents Award. In 1995, she became only the second RIMS staff member to receive RIMS highest honor, the Dorothy and Harry Goodell Award. This award has been created to recognize a Gamma Iota Sigma member for outstanding participation with RIMS on both the local and national levels. This award will be presented at the Annual Management Conference in the Spring. Faculty Chapter Advisors should submit nominations to Grand Chapter by writing a letter of reference supporting the nomination of the student. In this letter, please indicate specifically how/why the particular student's involvement with RIMS is meritorious and should be recognized. Grand Chapter should receive submissions no later than February 28th at 5:00 p.m. EST. Past Recipients
