Meet The Grand Chapter Executive Committee

President – Alan F. Hoffmann

Alan graduated from The Ohio State University in 1986 in Business Administration. He majored in Insurance and Risk Management. Alan currently works with DGS Insurance Agency, Inc. a Steinhaus Group affiliate, as a property and casualty agent. He is an alumnus of the Alpha Chapter of Gamma Iota Sigma and has acted as an Alumni Advisor of the Alpha Chapter.

Immediate Past President – Kenneth M. Kotten

Ken is Assistant Vice President with Acordia/McElroy-Minister in Columbus, Ohio. He is a past officer of Alpha Chapter, The Ohio State University, and has been on the Executive Committee of Grand Chapter since 1989. He was President from 1995-1998.

Executive Vice President - Alan C. Williams, Ph.D., CPCU, CLU

Dr. Williams is retired from the College of Business at The Ohio State University, former Executive Director of the Griffith Foundation for Insurance Education, past national President of the Professional Fraternity Association and a past national President of Gamma Iota Sigma.

Treasurer - George A. Gummer

George's responsibilities include receipt and disbursement of all funds and providing the financial planning that is required for a growing organization. George has formed his own company, providing consulting services to financial institutions in strategic planning, asset/liability management, and investment portfolio management. He has also served as President of the Grand Chapter Executive Committee. George was treasurer of the Alpha Chapter at The Ohio State University, 1966-67.

Vice President - John D. Meder

John is a graduate of The Ohio State University where he majored in Insurance and Risk Management and was a member of Gamma Iota Sigma. He has held several positions on the Grand Chapter including the Presidency for two years. His background includes various management positions within the insurance industry. He is currently a Vice President with J&H Marsh & McLennan working as a casualty leader in the risk management department of the East Central Partnership (Cleveland, Columbus, Cincinnati, Louisville) in the Cleveland office. In addition, he holds client executive responsibilities for many of J&H Marsh & McLennan’s commercial real estate clients. Previous to J&H Marsh & McLennan, John was the Vice President of Risk Management for The Galbreath Company, a leading real estate and development firm in the United States. John is a past president of the Central Ohio Chapter of RIMS and currently is a Society Director for RIMS national.

Vice President - Christina M. Cubberley

Christina is Director of Member Services for the Georgia State Association of Life Underwriters in Dunwoody, Georgia. Christina is a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University and an alumni of the Omega Chapter. She has been involved with Gamma Iota Sigma since 1992 and was president of the Omega Chapter in the 1993-94 school year. She is currently an active member of the National Association of Life Underwriters and American Business Women's Association.

Vice President – - Michael R. Hubbel CPCU, ARM, AU, AIM, ARP

Mike is Associate Professor of Insurance, Director of the Insurance Program, and Chair of the Department of Business and Economics at Olivet College. Mike is a former Vice President of Pioneer State Mutual Insurance Company and a past instructor of insurance and risk management in the College of Business at Michigan State University. Mike was the first Chapter Advisor for the Alpha Alpha Chapter chartered in 1986 at Olivet College, before joining the Executive Committee in 1990. He served as President of Grand Chapter from 1992-1995.

Vice President – Corey R. Stein

Corey is Vice President of PRIMA and is employed by Coregis/GE Capital in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

Vice President – Richard Dyke

Faculty Representative - R.B. Drennan, Ph.D.

Dr. Drennan is Associate Professor of Risk Management and Insurance at Temple University. Dr. Drennan received his BS degree in economics and mathematics from Southern Methodist University and AM and Ph.D. degrees in insurance and risk management from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He conducts research on health maintenance organizations (HMOs) and has published in the Journal of Insurance Regulation, Benefits Quarterly and The Journal of Insurance Issues. He has done consulting work for the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans and the American Society of Health Care Risk Management (ASHRM). Dr. Drennan has received two teaching awards at Temple. His teaching interests include employee benefits and risk management. Dr. Drennan has served as faculty advisor for Sigma since 1991 and has been on the faculty at Temple since 1988.

Student Representative – Andrew Wagner

Andrew is now in his fourth year at Temple University and will graduate in the spring with a degree in Risk Management, Insurance and Finance. He is presently interning with Aon Risk Services of Philadelphia with hopes of becoming a broker after graduation. He is also Career Placement Coordinator for the Sigma Chapter.
