New Chapter Sponsor ProgramThe New
Chapter Sponsor Program is intended to encourage chapters to identify and recruit
potential new chapters into the fraternity. The
chapter that successfully completes the entire sequence of activities necessary to bring a
new chapter from initial contact through chartering ceremony will receive $250 awarded
from the Grand Chapter. In addition,
recognition will be given to your chapter via fraternity publications and letters to your
university administrators, as well as recognition at the chartering ceremony. Ø With the help of your advisor, identify nearby colleges and
universities with risk management and insurance program, or actuarial program, in their
School of Business. Ascertain if the Business
School is affiliated with AACSB. Contact
Grand Chapter and advise of your "target" school. Ø
Identify the
"contact person" within that program (faculty member or student RMI or actuarial
club president) and send them a letter of introduction, with a follow-up phone call. Ø Use the contact person to set up an informal meeting of all
interested students and select a spokesperson from your chapter to meet with them and
explain the benefits of Gamma Iota Sigma affiliation. Ø Gather all information about the program and mail a report to
Grand Chapter, specifically: viability of current student organization, number of
potential fraternity members (including breakdown by 1st year, 2nd year, etc.) school
administration support, faculty interest, potential for business community involvement and
support, and the RMI/actuarial curriculum. Be
sure to include the name, address, and phone number of the "contact person." Ø When advised of the date of the Grand Chapter's on-site
visitation, have your members available to assist the Grand Chapter representative and
provide support. Ø Assist the new chapter as they plan and organize their chartering
event and ceremony. Ø Attend the chartering ceremony. Ø Continue to contact the new chapter officials on a quarterly
basis to offer assistance and support in the critical first year. Ø Plan an inter-fraternity event with the new chapter (e.g., a
regional conference or joint field trip). DETERMINATION In all cases, complete
documentation must be submitted to the Grand Chapter and the decision of the Grand Chapter
will be final. |
