Sample Agenda for a Chapter Planning Retreat

I.                     Brief Review and Discussion of Mission, Goals, and Officer’s Duties

                        PURPOSE – DIRECTION – RESPONSIBILITIES

A.                  A “Bowers” Chapter is active in the following areas:

1.                   Public relations and publicity

2.                   Insurance industry relations

3.                   Alumni relations

4.                   Assistance in sponsoring new Gamma Iota Sigma chapters at other colleges and universities

5.                   Regularity in chapter activity and timeliness in submitting monthly reports (by the 10th of each month) to the Grand Chapter

6.                   Growth in student membership and consistent, strong member involvement in chapter activities

7.                   Sponsorship of inter-fraternity activities with other Gamma Iota Sigma chapters

8.                   Campus citizenship

A.                  Chapter Marketing Plan Ideas

1.                   Speak to high school business classes

2.                   Use alumni to target transfer students at community colleges

4.                   Participate in campus organization fair/displays.  Does your campus have a PFC (Professional Fraternity Council)?

5.                   Speak to insurance and other classes (business, math, psych, etc.)

6.                   Recruiting dinner with industry – alumni speaker

7.                   Campus workshops on interviewing, resumes, business ethics, personal insurance needs and non-needs of students.  (

8.                   Sponsor a “Citizens Against Crime” program, and/or State Farm Designated Driver program

9.                   “Adopt-A-Highway” (people commitment)
